Tomorrow is the National Day of Prayer here in the states. This is the National holiday of confusing Christianity with America.

Hopefully this picture will give us some of the least of these to keep in mind as we pray tomorrow for our national security, our leaders, baseball, and apple pie.

Steve,

Because of the loose ecumenical aspects of the National Day of Prayer, I am not so sold on the idea, but I do think that you have forgotten its "intended purpose". It is not as you mentioned in this post.

The purpose is to beseech the Lord Jesus Christ to have mercy on our land for our sin and rebellion from His Scriptures. Nothing else. Others will pervert it no doubt, but this is the proper focus and it has something to do with America's lack of "eternal security" (John 5:24) - little to do about national security.

There is no security apart from having Jesus Christ as our own personal Redeemer. This comes through repentant faith alone in Him.

It is this for which the National Day of Prayer rightly focuses, though most Americans do not even know who Christ is to cry out in repentance for mercy leading Salvation of their own soul.

This is our job as preachers - to teach so certainly and righty from Scripture that the Holy Spirit brings the sinner to see their lost condition and to turn personally to Christ.
I Timothy 4:16

We are to tell them the right and only way. (John 14:6)

The National Day of Prayer is not the big hoax that some folks imply. Some of us are being compelled to pray far more than once in May, though the concept is a good start for a wicked nation like ours....

May His Grace lead us to His Cross, the only place of true hope.
